PostDoc in quantum photonics
PostDoc in quantum photonics
At the Niels Bohr Institute at University of Copenhagen we currently have a postdoc opening within experimental quantum photonics. Employment date is 1 October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. Employment period is 2 years with the possibility of extension.
The position is embedded in the Quantum Photonics Group within the newly established Center of Excellence “Hybrid Quantum Networks Hy‑Q” and the European Quantum Internet Alliance. We carry out fundamental and applied research on solid-state quantum-information processing with solid-state quantum emitters embedded in photonic nanostructures. The quest of the current research programme is to scale the basic quantum functionalities to obtain large and complex quantum networks.
Further information on the Department is linked at https://www.science.ku.dk/english/about-the-faculty/organisation/.
Project description
Within Hy‑Q we pursue a hybrid approach to solid-state quantum-information processing by combining spin physics, quantum dots, quantum optomechanics, and quantum memories. Currently we are launching new projects within the following areas:
- Photonic quantum gates based on quantum dots strongly coupled to a nanophotonic waveguide
- Generation of photonic cluster states towards photonic quantum repeaters
- Hybrid quantum memory for quantum dot photon sources
Formal requirements
Applicants should have a PhD degree in physics or engineering with good results and good English skills. As criteria for the assessment of your qualifications emphasis will also be laid on previous publications (if any) and relevant work experience.
Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
The starting salary is currently up to DKK 419.772 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 71.781). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
